9. Colour
Since we’re starting off with a basic bottom, your colorful piece can be a top, outerwear, accessories or whatever you have available in your closet by way of color.
Utilizing colour is not only a great way to express yourself, it gives you the opportunity to get some wear out of your less functional items, like that neon green tube top you’ve never worn, for instance.
Included in this category can also be any trendy pieces or anything patterned or textured… basically anything that wouldn’t be classified as a basic.
Again, for the sake of easy morning dressing as well as chicness, I recommend not overwhelming you’re outfit with a mixture of different colors, patterns or textures.
If you want to mix and match with different patterns for example, I suggest sticking with the same color palette for a more cohesive look.
Or, if you want to wear your favourite cherry red overcoat, consider pairing it with more basic base layers (bottom and top), for visual balance.
CLOTHING HACK: Take this opportunity to wear your fast fashion items.
While I’m not a big fan of fast fashion, we all have more fast fashion garments than we’d care to admit, so why not wear them?
Because you’re sticking with neutral basics (ideally of good quality) your trendy pieces will look more expensive.
